How to Plan the Perfect Holiday to Santorini

Located n the Aegean Sea, Santorini is a stunningly beautiful place to visit. Home to white-washed homes, wonderful weather and beautiful views, Santorini is the ideal holiday destination.

If you’re considering spending some time in Santorini you may want to make the most of it. But how can you ensure you really enjoy yourself while you’re on the island? The tips below will help you to plan the perfect holiday to Santorini.

Consider What Type of Holiday you Want

It’s important for you to think about what type of holiday you’re looking for. If you want to party until long after the sun has set you may want to head to Fira. If you’re looking for a beach holiday then you should consider heading to the Eastern side of Santorini.

If you would like to visit somewhere beautiful then Oia is the ideal destination. Don’t forget to take your camera with you so you can show off your snaps when you get back home. If it’s a romantic holiday you’re looking for then Imerovigli and Oia are places you may want to consider as both of these destinations are ideal.

Think About your Budget

Santorini tends to be more expensive than many other parts of Greece. If you would like to holiday somewhere that is very pretty you should be prepared to spend a little more. However, if you want to visit Santorini and you don’t mind about staying somewhere a little less pretty you should expect to pay less.

June to September is the peak season in Santorini and it’s likely you will have to pay a lot more for your holiday during these months. However, the months of April, May and October are typically quieter and cheaper.

Consider your Accommodation

If you would like to stay somewhere quite private you should expect to pay a little or occasionally a lot more for privacy. A lot of the hotels advertise private terraces but people can walk along those terraces if they wish as they’re not cordoned off. This is the same as far as many Jacuzzis are concerned.

Some public pathways make their way around some luxury suites which means you could end up having less privacy than you thought. Just make sure you ask the hotel or villa company that you’re thinking of booking with about your privacy.

If you plan to go on vacation with children you may find it easier to rent a villa or an apartment. You will have a lot more privacy and you’ll have a home from home.

Book as Far Ahead as you Can

One of the best things you can do when you’re planning to visit Santorini is to book as far ahead as you can. Santorini gets thousands upon thousands of visitors every year and it would be a shame if you missed out.

When it comes to dining out you may also want to book a table in advance, especially if you would like to dine while watching the sun go down.

Don’t Miss the Sun Rising

While the sunsets in Santorini are nothing short of beautiful you may want to see the sunrise too. The sun spreads some glorious golden light as it rises and it’s simply well worth watching. The good news is you won’t have to fight to see the sunrise as you would the sunset. Head out into one of the local towns after the sun has risen and do a spot of exploring. As Santorini and its guests start to wake up you could head back to your accommodation for a spot of brunch while the towns get busy.

Consider What you’re Going to Pack

If you’re planning to visit Santorini during the summer months you should consider packing your bathing suit. If you want to take a dip in the hot sulphur springs take a dark bathing suit. The sulphur in the water discolours bathing suits so a dark one will be just fine.

You may also want to consider packing some linen and some light-coloured clothes as it can get quite hot on the island. Don’t forget to pack some slightly warmer clothes so you can stay warm in the cool evenings. Finally, you should pack some mosquito repellent as you will get bitten if you don’t use any.

Santorini is a wonderful island, full of gorgeous sunsets, stunning views and lovely towns. If you’re planning to visit the island make sure you consider all of the above tips as you’re more likely to have a perfect holiday.
